Afghanistan War Vet Carlos Olivares Joins Ridgefield Police Force

A war veteran who served in Afghanistan has officially joined the ranks of Ridgefield’s finest, being sworn in as the local police department’s latest member.

This week, the Ridgefield Police Department welcomed new Officer Carlos Olivares, who was sworn in during a ceremony at police headquarters, he is now set to train at the Connecticut Police Academy for more than six months before returning to protect residents in Ridgefield.

According to police officials, Olivares served at the Downstate Correctional Facility for seven years before making his way to Ridgefield. He is an active member of the Air National Guard and an Operation Enduring Freedom Veteran, who served a tour in Afghanistan before making his way into law enforcement.

Once his training is complete, Olivares will be a regular in the rotation at the Ridgefield Police Department.
